pork chops with an orange glaze!

today’s recipe is one of those dishes perfect for when you want to impress someone but do not have that much time to cook. these pork chops are great with rice and perfect for company or any weeknight dinner. 

here is the recipe for pork chops with and orange glaze!

INGREDIENTS:
2 tsp granulated garlic
2 tsp ground cumin
2 1/4 tsp coriander seeds 
5-6 pork chops about 1/2 inch thick
1 tbs of olive oil
juice of one orange + store bought oj to make 3/4 cups of juice
1/2 cup of chicken stock
1 tsp corn starch
2 springs of scallions
salt & pepper 

INSTRUCTIONS:

mix together 2 teaspoons each of coriander seeds, granulated garlic and ground cumin. we are going to use this to season the chops.

wash and season the pork chops with salt and pepper.

sprinkle the spice mix onto both sides of the pork chops.

heat up the olive oil on a heavy skillet.

cook the chops for about 6 minutes on each side, until they are cooked throughout.

meanwhile, mix together the orange juice, chicken stock, 1/4 teaspoon of coriander seeds and corn starch.

check on your chops. let them brown up a bit as well. 

get your glaze ingredients ready:

once your chops have cooked completely and they are brown on the outside, take them out of the pan and place them in a plate to rest.

now, onto the skillet… look at this beauty:

add the orange juice mix to the skillet.

lightly scrape the bottom of the sillet with a spoon to release any leftover seasoning or pieces of pork stuck to the bottom. 

let the glaze boil until it thickens up (about 5 minutes) and add the scallions.

finally, add the chops and coat them with the orange glaze. 

serve with fresh scallions.

the orange makes for a sweet and tangy glaze while the spices give these chops some really nice flavor layers.
