
hi friends! how was your week? my week has been going great, lots of cooking, working and a holiday party tonight. i made these cookies last weekend. they are packed with orange and ginger flavors. they make for great homemade presents and since they only take about 30 minutes to make you can whip out a batch really quickly.
here is the recipe for orange and ginger cookies!!
INGREDIENTS:
4 1/2 oz butter
1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour
2/3 cup of sugar
pinch of salt
1 1/2 tbs ground ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup of golden syrup or karo light syrup
1 egg
1 tbs orange rind

INSTRUCTIONS:
preheat your oven to 325ºF. sift the flour, salt, sugar, ginger and baking soda.

leave it alone for a few minutes.

heat yo the butter and karo syrup together.

heat on low heat until the butter melts and let it cool slightly.

peel off orange rind.

and chop it into tiny, tiny pieces.

pour the butter onto the dry ingredients.

add the egg and orange peel.

mix the dough together until everything is incorporated.

make about 30 balls with the dough.

place the balls on greased baking sheets and press down with your fingers.

bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes. let them cool before serving.

these are great cookies. as you saw, they are really easy and quick to make. the orange and ginger flavors are really prominent in these cookies; packed with holiday flavors.

i like the little pieces of orange peel in the batter. they make for surprising bursts of flavor in every bite.
