oh my god you guys! i learned to make bread! can you believe it?! b.r.e.a.d!!! and i need to point out that this is not regular bread, this is irish soda bread!! i am so excited! this of course was part of my baking extravaganza week. sadly, this is the last installment (for now). good thing i am sure i can see more and more baking in my future. i need to get a mixer so i can bake more stuff. so, without any more delays, here it is… irish white soda bread!!!!
INGREDIENTS:
1lb of flour
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 tbs of sugar
1.5 cups of buttermilk
a pinch of salt

could it be true?! did i really get all the ingredients into the picture?! i guess i’m getting the handle on this blogging thing!
INSTRUCTIONS:
preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
start by sifting the flour and baking soda into a large bowl. add the sugar and a inch of salt. make a well in the center.

then, add in the buttermilk

mix everything together. and knead a little bit.

transfer the dough to a baking sheet and using a sharp knife draw a cross on top.

bake for about 30 to 40 minutes. the bread will be done once it is brown and hollow when tapped.
let it cool down before serving

enjoy it plain or with butter and marmalade. the irishman tasted it and approved so i am going to take that as a sign of a successful baking week!

hope you try it and thanks for stopping by!
