french toast breakfast

our friend, the helicopter pilot, came to visit us all the way from florida the other morning.  the least we could do was make breakfast.  after a quick trip to the supermarket we had all the ingredients for a delicious breaky.  since that was also the day of the brasil vs. ivory coast world cup game (go brasil!) i also needed this to be a fast breakfast! so i settled* on french toast, and so happy did.  i had not made french toast in a long while.

breakfast has always been one of my favorite meals.  and french toast has always been high up on the list of my favorite breakfast dishes. it is really funny what we retain in memory. i remember my mom making this for us once while we were riding out a hurricane (growing up in dr we had hurricanes every year) and the other instance i remember is they served french toast first time i got on a plane.  but enough chit chat, here it is, recipe for french toast!!

*in reality the irishman was the one who decided that

INGREDIENTS
4 bread rolls
milk
cinnamon
vanilla extract
eggs
butter

syrup and powdered sugar to serve

INSTRUCTIONS
slice the bread rolls into 1 inch slices. you can use sliced bread as well, but i find the rolls make better french toast.

use everything, even the ends

pour milk in a bowl and mix in a tablespoon of vanilla extract

then, in another bowl whip up 3 eggs

mix in about 3 sprinkles of cinnamon

ok, melt some butter on a skillet and get your assembly line ready.  dip the bread in the milk and vanilla and soak it.

then dip it into the egg and cinnamon mixture

make sure it is coated well on both sides

place on the skillet and repeat with the other slices

cook them until brown on each side. serve them with syrup and a side of bacon.

(sorry about the blown out picture, new camera)

the guys ate them all.  i really thought i cooked too much… but nope, they defied science and ate every single slice.

hope you try them, thanks for stopping by!
